Beautiful architecture and a community’s rich stories lived out of its historical structures help to create the distinct character of a city, a sense of belonging for its residents, and are part of what makes a community attractive to both residents and visitors.  The Walnut St. Baptist Church in Waterloo, Iowa combines a historically significant building with a dynamic purpose that addresses needs and propels a community forward.

This architectural treasure, built in 1907, has a rich history serving the community through two church congregations from 1908-2010.  After 13 years of sitting vacant, there is currently a collaborative community effort underway to envision the renovation and reuse of this important historical landmark.  Welcome to this envisioning process.  We invite you to help write the next chapter for the Walnut St. Baptist Church and the entire community.
